A group of ten found guilty of digital abuse against Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has convicted ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The defendants faced charges of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the pair's age disparity of 24 years.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons initiating a libel case in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted comparable unfounded claims about the French president's wife's gender.
Their legal filing states that Owens ignored all credible evidence contradicting her allegations choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has often echoed these assertions on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was 54.
